Favorite Photograph

This photo of one of my closest friends, Raye, is one of my favorite photos I've taken. It represents the complexities and beauty of black womanhood. She embodies the unapologetic spirit of a carefree black girl. Her makeup is imbued bold hues that have long been cast by society as unflattering for black women. In a world that tells black women we’re too much, this photo reminds me how powerful it is to embrace our blackness and be as bold as we want all the while.
